Backrooms and Mall World: Bathroom Maze

I wonder why backrooms sold so much first thing, is kane parson’s youtube series that big? Because i never watched it, and so it wasn’t what drew me to see the movie ASAP. For me it was because of various other creators’ pictures and videos and games that were unlike his more lore-developed take on it. As a lot of people mentioned, I think the take on the decaying economy and society poignantly represented by the material/artificial through rooms and bought stuff like furniture touches on a subconscious awareness of it all even if people haven’t thought through their attraction to it yet.

It makes me think of a phenomenon I’ve seen recently where people are shocked to have dreams of similar things, now called Mall World, and bathrooms as well. The bathrooms talk really shocked me because I never knew anyone who had my same experience until then. So many people reporting the same, to me recurring, dream of looking for a proper toilet but only finding toilets without stalls, or disgusting ones, nonsensical ones.

I think this all comes back to that subconscious awareness. It’s really fun that the focus is malls. It comes back to malls lol

The recurring bathroom dream ive had was something that always stuck with me and so I made it my mission to figure out what my brain was specifically doing with it.

In the past I’ve always considered dreams to be a highly personal thing that can only be truly properly interpreted by yourself, if there’s even anything to interpret at all. But when it comes to recurring dreams, I felt like my brain was doing something specific. And now finding out so many people have similar kinds of dreams, now I think there’s something beyond me with my individual experiences and more as a human being owning a flesh brain like other human beings with flesh brains (if that makes any sense.)

Anyway, long story short, when I attempted to interpret mine (long before I knew about others’ similar dreams), I found it most closely matched my desperation and frustration (understatement) with having control and the path in life I want.

Now, I’m gonna start mixing my interpretations of the past to my current interpretations considering society at large. Using a bathroom is a non-negotiable necessity; other than hunger, you cannot choose to not do it. And when I thought about why it’s excretion/defecation instead of consumption, one important distinction I realized was the added necessity of privacy. That’s something EVERYONE in this mass surveillance age can relate to. This connects to purity culture, because it’s all about being stripped naked for the sake of making sure you do no crime. You must be immaculate. You cannot be even a little dirty. You cannot defacate and be disgusting as a human animal is. You cannot have bad thoughts, that is a crime, that damns you. You are not safe even in your own head, you must be inspected. Stripped bare all the time.
