Cyril is born in a Hong Kong hospital.
Brought by his family enticed by the glamorous facade, Cyril arrives in the U.S.A. during his elementary school years.
By high school, Cyril is in a rough patch and surrounds himself with similar troubled kids. Unfortunately, their ways of coping are much less than healthy.
His group's attitude of carelessness and use of substances causes one of them to succumb. Cyril is greatly disturbed. He withdraws from the group, partly feeling responsible, and partly survivor's guilt by having the idea that it could have easily been him instead. The passing of someone he wouldn't have called a friend before this moment causes him to rethink his way of life.
Despite his rough start and mourning, Cyril was able to graduate. At some point by the end of his high school years, he resorted to books for company.
Having a strong dislike of academia since a young age which only bolstered after educating himself, he turns to the trades instead of college. In his free time, he visits the library and dabbles in fashion.
