Disorganized Luka rambling
The Little Prince
Luka’s Round 5 design was based off The Little Prince (Official Alien Stage artbook). He seems like a cruel twist to the titular character: to shelter with a glass globe, water, and kill the caterpillars for his rose. In his profile in the artbook, his description for his relationship with Hyuna is something like “if you were in my arms, you would be safe.” Considering he’s implied to have the least amount of autonomy being put through a rigorous life by Heperu, his alien owner, the obsession with grandiosity and numbers highlighted in The Little Prince is probably most apparent to him, who’s won the Alien Stage competitions before.
Luka generally appears to be less focused on crowd-pleasing behavior than Ivan, who has wordier interviews and shows a more extroverted personality. There’s a shot of him as a child hiding away from blinding paparazzi, and in the “modern AU” that the devs made, he’s part of a talent agency with Ivan but absolutely hates it. It leads to the idea that popularity is also not something he cares for, and might even dislike, despite being number 1 in the competitions. I see The Little Prince in him from this.
Autonomy
Luka seems to have the most rigorous, cruel life with the least autonomy thanks to his alien owner Heperu. The alien focused on overcoming fear on its interview, setting implications about the level of trauma that Luka was put through. Luka is even limited in his diet to the point of often having bit and chewed things as a child: including Hyuna’s forehead.
A comic showed Hyuna answering Luka’s question of why she loves to sing with the reason of feeling that she owns her own life.
The confirmation from the devs in a Q&A that Luka only needs to sing to win the competitions can only mean he doesn’t taunt and trigger his opponents for the sake of survival.
Luka is the most controlled out of all the contestants. Considering all this and given his pleased reactions when his opponents react to his taunting on stage, this seems to be his avenue to be the one exerting control and doling pain for once instead of being the receiver.
He appeared upset when Mizi appeared and turned Till’s despair around in the final round. We know it’s not due to fear regarding survival–though the close votes at the end could mean otherwise–so it’s probably due to the disruption of his “perfect performance” i.e. what happens on the stage spelling things moving out of his control.
I wrote this on 5 or less hours of sleep. Not sure how much exactly. Anything that doesn’t make sense or is too obvious, I blame on that. If I have the time and desire, I’ll probably rewrite this quoting actual text from the stuff I mentioned and insert relevant pictures.
